Useful Tips

Google rules the search engine world.  Google alone provides exposure to 80% of all Internet users.  The best advice Entelligence can provide is that if you do what Google likes, you will more than likely be meeting the requirements of all other search engines.

Google's golden rule is that websties should be developed for end users, not for search engines.  BMW discovered this the hard way in 2006 when they were blacklisted on Google for employed tactics that displayed different content to Google than what was actually displayed to the end user.

Here are a few tips to help you get the best rankings for your website:

Do

  • Ensure that your website is cross browser compatible (if it's not Mozilla compatible it's not Google compatible)
  • Use traditional tags such as the H1 tag to denote a heading on your web page
  • Use the keywords you would like your website to rank for within your content

Don't

  • Get lured into artificial linking schemes (website promising links to your website for a fee)
  • Place invisible text on your website (same colour text as the same colour background)
  • Make drastic changes overnight - if you are changing your website, make the changes gradual to prevent dramatic drops in your search engine ranking
